Don Quixote once visited Sicily and learnt to speak Sicilian. He wished this land to improve for its inhabitants. He even carved on a tree trunk his ideas for a more equitable distribution of wealth. Sancho Panza, on the other hand, kept looking at Quixote with his characteristic skepticism, firm in the belief that the island would not change.
Based on the poem in Ssicilian language , 'Don Chisciotti e Sanciu Panza', by Giovanni Meli (1740 - 1815), composer Willy Merz set Sanciu's dreams to music, as recounted by the great poet of Palermo in his poem. And it's hard to think of a better interpreter than Sicilian poet, singer and songwriter Giuseppe DI Bella, whose voice and guitar thus brought to life the Sicilian Sanciu for us
